Post-partum support

Maybe you are reading this as a soon to be parent, or a brand new mama, thinking “how am I supposed to know everything” The simple answer is you won’t and that’s ok. Regardless of how many books you read or courses you take - new parenting is the steepest learning curve and our culture places value on the shoulders of so called ‘experts’. I believe there is no greater expert of an individual baby than the woman who grew and birthed her child. My role is to hold and nourish you as you meet your new self - this can mean gentle guidance and suggestions, making home cooked food, holding your baby as you rest or shower or being a voice of reassurance you can rely upon. It is my aim that when we come to the end of our time together you feel resourced, cared for and in tune with your own power as a parent.

Adapting to motherhood requires more than having someone hold the baby and unload the dishwasher (although necessary too!) it often involves deep emotional work and unfolding, letting go of expectations and being in a place of receiving help and support- which most of us struggle with, and this is especially true if its not been part of your story so far.

Historically new families were held and supported by their own family and the community, food was prepared, rest was encouraged and elders on hand to espouse wisdom on all things baby. Modernity has eroded ‘the village’ and in its place promoted routines for tiny babies, ‘bouncing back’ for new mothers and returning to work as soon as possible! We do new families a huge disservice when we do not honour this sacred and transitional time.

Do you want to experience this life season feeling supported, nourished and having your questions answered?

I have given this phase a lot of thought as a result of supporting many many families and I’ve come to understand the fundamental needs of newly born mothers and families and I’m called to serve the needs of newborns as they slowly ‘land’. Birth experiences imprints upon newborns I am able to support this transition from womb to world with presence and tenderness. I offer two packages that centre on nourishing new mothers, being a non judgemental voice of experience and gentle guidance and a pair of willing arms to hold babies.
